plot for horror trailer

Reminiscence - Plot

We thought that if our 2 minute short section was to be as successful as it could be then we would need to develop a plotline for a full sized movie so that we know exactly what needs to be achieved in this opening section that we are to produce.

Killer Haunted by siblings death on there birthday, feels anger towards the role parents played in this. After killing own parents develops a taste for murder and decides to punish those he deems to be incompetent parents.
(These ideas will be pursued in the title sequence of the clip)

Every year on the month leading up to the deceased siblings birthday, murders take place on parents with children aged 6-11. The victims body is then adorned with a doll as a reminder of the dead sibling. In order to test the remaining parents love for their child the killer leaves a clue to the childs location.

Latest Killing occurs on the street of a teenage babysitters house, the concerned friends of this teenager proceed to ring them in order to confirm their safety. They then travel to the babysitters house for a houseparty. During the party, the child is left unattended and the killer (a guest at the party) snatches the child and slaughters the majority of the household.

Killer leaves an adress for the survivors to follow if they want the child back, it is revealed that at each location a sacrifice must be made for the next location to be revealed. They must reach the final trial by midnight if the child is to live.

production companies

universal studios is a huge production company and is one of the oldest production companies in american history, it was founded by Carl Laemmle german jewish immigrant seeking refuge in 1912 and has helped create films for many years. the logo and name both represent a world wide feel to this production company. the planet connotes the colossal size of the company and perhaps the range of how well known they are also as they have produced films all around the world.some of their biggest films include jurassic park 1, 2, 3 and jaws.

once again paramount pictures was found 1912 by hugarian born Adolph Zukar from a small wooden shanty in hollywood to a multi million pound earning production comapany that has also helped produce films for many years. as you can see the main image seems to be the himalayers or some other mountain also with a simular stature. this connotes an iconic image of being colossal in size and massive in the film idustry.some of thier most famous films are the god father (1972) and star trek (1979).

fox studios has been and probably will always be a massive contender in the running for best production company ever. it was founded in 1915 originally by william fox then the comapany as a whole was created in 1933 by  Darryl F. Zanuck, Joseph Schenck, Raymond Griffith and William Goetz.some of thier most popular films include, avatar 2009 and scraped in a whopping $2 billion dollars, star wars 1977 and has a total gross profit of $4.1 billion dollars. as you can now see that 20th Century Fox is a massively sucessful comapny and thats why i belive that it be around for many more years and continue to make great, successful films.

film 4 is classed as a low earning production comapany but as i have found out that this to be actually false.Film 4 was launched in 1998 and this was to be the second channel 4 program after channel 4 itself of course. their most famous film which also earnt perhaps the biggest amount of money into the company would have to be the Inbetweeners movie which racked in a whopping £45,028,695 pounds and for a small company like film 4 this can emphasise thier movement within the film mking industry.

vertigo films is also classed as perhaps a low earning production comapany but has still released many big titles such football factory and its all gone pete tong. vertigo films was created in 2002 by Allan Niblo, James Richardson, Nick Love, Rupert Preston, and Rob Morgan. and unlike most production companies vertigo films states thier current goal whitch is to produce and distribute four films every year.

retro films dean wayne evansRetro Films is an independent Film Production Company based in Bournemouth, Dorset. they specialise is in Short films, some of which have included award winning short documentaries and music videos. The most succesful short film was in 2006 were the pickwed up the ITV local film award for Stones, written and directed by Dean Evans. 1408 title sequence

14 secs - black screen with the company that produced the film 'dimension films' which is in bold white writing which contrasts with the black background. there is also non-diegetic music playing with has an eerie feel to it therefore relating to the horror genre very well.

28 secs - a slow fade into the first shot which is an extreme long shot of a dark isolated road with what seems to be a car in the distance with its full beam car lights on due to heavy rain. this rain is linked to pathetic fallacy which means that the rain symbolises the emotion of the set. there seems to be acres of lonesome woodland which is stereotypical for a horror because of its seem less never ending labyrinth.

30 secs - name of the first actor appears on screen 'john cuszak' this is the first name that appears so we assume that this is the main character of the film.

31 secs - camera begins to pan across the scene.

33 secs - the next actors name then appears on screen 'Samuel L jackson'. a huge name in the film industry this indicates the stature of this film projecting the idea of that the film will be good.

40 secs - the title appears on screen now in large white bold misty font, which simulates a ghostly feel to the scene. also the car in the distance has now pulled up right infront of the camera, a close up on the front of car to show its stature towards the audience this could either resemble the car or the character in the vehicle.

45 secs - the large vehicle now reverses very rappidly connoting to a state of confusion. then the camera shot switches to high angle shot looking down at the car making the once intimidating huge vehicle look vunerable to the darkness that lurks in the unknown.

50 secs - another actors name appears on screen 'Mary MCcormack'. and now we peer into the front screen of the car and see a bewieldered man holding a map seeming to be lost this is the first actor we see on screen and this normally conotes to him being the main character. also the radio is on quite loud and the words are very clear meaning that it is for the audience to listen to because it could pay a large part on the actually film. and it states 'open the gates of hell' which once agains relates to a paranormal scenario.

56 secs - there is now a distinct POV (point of view) shot from the man in the cars eyes to a road sign saying ' you are now leaving farfield county, please come back soon!' this is a strange use of words for a road sign, because even though most entrace or exit signs from a county or city say come back anytime soon or something alon those lines but this sign is almost demanding for the reader to come back ASAP perhaps asking for help. this is very mysterious which refers once again to the horror film genre because it is unusual and mentally questioning for the audience.

1.02 - there is a mid shot on the man once again, now referring to a map and due to his facial expressions and just to the use of the map we can tell he is lost. this imediatly relates to horror because there is always some one getting lost in the darkness of the unknown which is the outdoors. the weather also adds tension because it seems that everything is going wrong for the character on screen. another actor appears on screen 'Tony Shalhoub'.

1.09 - as the mam reverses the large vehicle onto a mud patch there is a close up on the back tyre this creates a feeling that something is going to happen to the car whether it is that the car get stuck on the and is unable to get out or perhaps the tyre pops due to something sharp on the floor unable to be seen by the audice due to the surroundings and weather. but it completly surprises everyone because nothing happens create perhaps a sense of relief for the character and audience.

1.15 - more credits begin to appear on screen 'Len Carlou'. the car then seems to reach its destination as it pulls up outside of what looks like an old tavern/inn which is surrounded by vast amounts of vegetation which seems to lean over and stare at the timid, seeming to be trapped character. there is also very low key lighting which emphasises the genre of horror because of the darkness seeming to follow him everywhere creating a cloud of the unknown for the audience.

1.25 secs - now as the lighting and rain is emphasised the character runs over a small bridge which argues the idea that there is one way in and one way out. there is also very low key lighting making the character look very uneasy and venerable. the low key lighting also allows the lightening to be emphasised which puts the audience on edge due to the sound and velocity of the elements.

1.30 secs - As the actor on scene approaches the old looking inn there seems to be another POV (point of view) shot but not from the main actor but from some one else unknown to the audience which creates a sense of paranoia which builds tension between the audience and the characters on scene. this links to the genre of horror because it is stereotypical for a creature or being to lurk behind the eyes of the audience. there is also another actor/actress appearing on screen 'Jasmine Jessica Anthony'.

1.38 secs - As the supposedly main character enters the old looking inn there is an instant blast of high key lighting connoting a warm sense of relief and safety. the room seems to be dressed in old fashion, the furniture and walls are decorated with out dated accessories.

1.52 secs - Two new characters appear on scene now and these are an old couple whom seem to be very happy by the presense of the main character which connotes that they dont have many visitors as they seem to just smile and stare at him. in any film old people are steriotypically seen as warm characters which backs up the idea of a sense of relief from the elements lurking in the darkness.

2.00 secs - there is now shot reverse shots which help towards a conversation proceeding which it does and this is between the old man and the main character, the old man then states 'you probably want to hear about our haunted history' which straight aways gives us the idea that this horror is definaetly going to be about ghosts. which then builds tension because the auidince wants to know whats going to happen and are apprehenchious to the well being of the characters whihch connotes to the genre of the title because the audience allways symphasise with the nice characters.

Friday, 21 October 2011

today i have began to research horror films, for some key influences which will hopefully spark an ingenious idea for my horror trailer.

paranormal activity 3 is the third in the sequel and was a great hit with the fans. the key prospect in the film which makes it thrilling and scary is the idea of ghosts and the sense of the unknown not being able to see your attacker. this is stereotypically found in horror films because it adds tension a propels the audience into a shock of terror.

saw has had many sequels believably 6 in the line of these horror films and the reason they have had so much success with each film is purely to the fact that the story line to these horrors are sick and twisted and their fans cant get enough of it. this films steriotipcally link to the horror genre because it is dark and blood thirsty. and the contraptions that the serial killer creates and uses on his victims are mysterious and abnormal, which is something that you dont see everyday and thats why i belive Saw has been so successful in its long rein of history.

here is the Stangers, which is based around serial killers, killing innocent people for their own entertainment which is sick with in itself. but what makes this film so successful is thier use of props this being the freaky masks which connote the feeling of the unknown which puts the audience on the edge of thier seats because the killers could be anyone. which always helps to create the scary factor with in a film and is a great idea for me to use in my trailer.

here is my prelim task which involves a variety of camera shots which we had to emphasize to make this worth while. our story line is based around a Friend/colleague being murdered by a killer and a Friend/colleague having to witness this gruesome act.
